8th Annual Bill Thomas Memorial Rescheduled to Sunday, November 11

Bridgeport, NJ - In what has been a rain-filled season in South Jersey, Spirit Speedway succumbed to weather all three days last weekend.
However, 'small car' fans don't worry as Sunday, November 11 will serve as the 'Bill Thomas' rain date. The Ace Overhead Door 270 & 600 micro sprints will headline the racing card as the Tobias Slingshots (King of the Sling), 600 Xcel Modifieds, and the 4 & 8 Cylinders complete Sunday's divisions.

"We really want to get this important race in the books for a couple reasons," offered track manager Danny Serrano. "For starters, the history of this race is pretty important to the track as well as the Thomas Family. Another reason is that we only have three cards for the Poker Series and want to get at least a fourth as some of the standings are wide open!" Serrano explained. "Sunday was our last and only option as many drivers are away in Charlotte this weekend enjoying the World Finals and we didn't want to take away from Airport's race this weekend as well."

Gates will open at 12:30 pm Sunday with the first green flag waving at 4pm. Fans are encouraged to spend the entire weekend at Bridgeport as 'Wild Card Weekend' will take place on the 5/8 mile that Friday and Saturday featuring 358 small blocks, Big Blocks, Outlaw Stocks, and 602 Crates all prior to the 'Bill Thomas' show. 811 Dig Safe Poker Series champions will be crowned all weekend long at the Bridgeport, NJ racing facility.

Former winners of the Bill Thomas events over the years include Luke Thomas (twice), Jack Conover, Bill Thomas, Lee Nardelli, Jay Hartman, and Tommy Kunsman (twice). The 270 winners have been Charlie Lamanna, Richie Keller, Chris Locuson, Andrew Locuson, Tyler Reinhardt, and Alex Swift (twice). Former winners of the "King of the Sling" Slingshot tour race include Dillon Steuer and Dylan Hoch.

Tim Buckwalter currently leads the wingless 600 standings over Tommy Kunsman, Matt Smith, PJ Williams, and Brian Carber. A dozen other 600 wheelmen literally have a chance at becoming the 2018 Poker Series Champion that include Luke Thomas, Kyle Lick, Alex Bright, Gary Bozowski, Wayne Scott, Damon Paul, Jon Keller, Mike Thompson, Bobby Butler, Austin Quick, Mike Rutherford, and Kyle Spence. Who will play their cards right and try and line up a pair of cards?

The 270 micro sprints also have a great battle raging as Pat Bealer currently leads co-track champion Nick Skias, Skyscraper winner Jacob Hendershot, early season Poker Series victor Lee Reinhardt and other co-track champion Alex Swift. Although a championship is out of their reach drivers like Andrew Locuson, Ryan Heim, Mike Rutherford, Brandon Shipley, Steve Coslop, Sean Huesser, Ed Tyers, and Tom Landwher can all better their positions in the standings.
