SIX DRIVERS EARN STARTING POSITION IN SUNDAY'S SKYSCRAPER

The first of three days of the 2019 Skyscraper event at the Spirit Speedway is on the books with six more drivers earning starting positions in Sunday's main events.

Two sessions of timed hot laps were run for both of the Ace Overhead Door Company 600cc Micro Sprints and the JS Weld-Rite/Mongoose Chassis 270cc Micro Sprints. The fastest driver in each of the four groups would move directly into Sundays main events.

Tommy Kunsman grabbed the top spot in the first session for the 600s with a time of 13.191 over Travis Hill, 2019 Champion, Matt Smith, Billy Koch and Kyle Spence.

Luke Thomas topped the second group of 600s with a time of 13.633 over Colin White, Matt Smith, Whitey Kidd III and Alex Bright.

In the first 270 timed hot lap session, it was Pat Bealer on top with a time of 12.643 over Jacob Hendershot, Nick Skias, Alex Swift and Tommy Kunsman.

Nick Skias was the fastest in the second session of time hot laps for the 270s with a time of 12.889 over Lee Reinhardt, Ross Perchak, Luke Fogg and Tommy Kunsman.

In the twenty lap U6SA Shootout for the 600s, Kenny Miller jumped into the lead on the start and never looked back. After eighteen consecutive green flag laps, the caution came out with two laps to go but Miller had no trouble holding off the competition. After racing in second for most of the race, Whitey Kidd III was sidelined with mechanical issues with two to go. Billy Koch trailed Miller to the finish line followed by Kyle Spence, Mike Rutherford and Brendan Bright in a second Rodota Trucking entry.

In the twenty lap Winner's Classic sponsored by Atlantic Racing Engines, it was Tommy Kunsman who wrestled the lead away from Lee Reinhardt on lap fifteen to pick up the win. Reinhardt finished second followed by Jason Swavely, Nick Skias and Ross Perchak.

Miller and Kunsman earned seventh place starting spots in their respective divisions for the Skyscraper on Sunday.

In addition to the six starting spots filled on Friday, Nick Sapp and Alex Swift also have redraw spots by virtue of their wins on the final Friday night of points.
